Movie:1984

Polysyndeton is the use of several conjunctions in close succession. A lot of examples of polysyndeton can be provided from this short story, such as :”He has no patience with faith , an intense horror of superstition, and he scoffs openly at any talk of things not to be felt and seen and put down in figures.” As we notice some of the conjunctions can be omitted. The second example is:” John is a physician, and PERHAPS—(I would not say it to a living soul, of course, but this is dead paper and a great relief to my mind) — PERHAPS that is one reason I do not get well faster.” One aspect of the polysyndeton in this sentence is that the coordinated information are not related. A third example is :” You see he does not believe I am sick! And what can one do? If a physician of high standing, and one’s own husband, assures friends and relatives that there is really nothing the matter with one but temporary nervous depression— a slight hysterical tendency—what is one to do..” The writer has achieved a variety of effects through using over abundant conjunctions. Ivan, the vet surgeon and Burkin, the high school teacher were tired of walking. Suddenly it started to rain and the friends decided to go to Alehin's house , as it was close by. Alehin, the landowner offered them to change their clothes and to take a bath. Alehin was so dirty that the water tued to brown, although he had access to a nice bath. After dressing up Ivan started to tell a story about his younger brother, Nikolay, who worked in a govement office. His desire was to live on a farm , filled with gooseberries, but Ivan never sympathized with this desire. Nikolay kept on living frugally, marrying an elderly and ugly widow who had filthy lucre. After his wife's death Nikolay bought a country house with no gooseberry bushes; however he planted some. Ivan went to pay him a visit. He found his brother older and fatter. Ivan realized that his brother was happy with his new life and that he had changed a lot. He was no more an obedient clerk, but a real landowner. He tended to refer to himself as a nobleman. Ivan, our protagonist, decides to study veterinary, this shows us that he wants to display all his qualities. He's not easily satisfied; he has a free spirit, this is obvious in his actions; for example while washing himself he also enjoys swimming. Washing is not just a necessity for him. He never wants to be monotonous as he considers it as laziness; therefore he has a round character. He's not just round, he changes during the hours in Nikolay 's house. He doesn't want to be anymore happy as he used to. He's oppressed by the peace. He doesn't have the same idea about happiness. He thinks that the purpose of life is something much more greater, like doing good. Nikolay seeks his happiness in stability. He limits his joy of life to a farm. He has a fixed framework about happiness: house for the family, servants' quarters, kitchen garden and gooseberry bushes. He never enjoys his life as he married an ugly widow just because of her wealth and when she died of poverty, he didn't blame himself. He just lives frugally. We can say that he has a flat character. Nikolay faces a great change. He transfers to a master from a timid govement officer. He now refers to himself a nobleman. So Movie:1984...ادامه مطلب

We can notice that in the struggle between Ivan and himself: his ideas about life and the role of happiness. We have also a conflict between man and man: the one which is between Ivan and his brother; actually his ideas . I'm not sure but we may have a conflict between man and society, because they don't have acceptable life conditions; for example we have a landowner who is poorly dressed. This poem is about a lonely person who is walking without any purpose in nature, suddenly he reaches a breathtaking scenery: an infinite amount of daffodils, soon he’s impressed and he forgets his loneliness. This short story is written in Objective POV; this is obvious in the first paragraph. The first paragraph is a description of the setting; actually the moments which can be seen. As readers, we’re facing the facts, not the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of the characters- in other words, we do not have access to these three elements.The most visible thing is the characters’ actions, but the dialogues can be referred to as focalizations, because our characters are the witnesses. Their emotions and reflections are presented to sum extent, so we can judge the characters’ background based on these factors. The male characters is persistently trying to convince the girl to have an operation; however the operation’s name is not explicitly stated. We don’t’ even know the characters’ name. « Outlander » is a fantasy - drama based on the Outlander novels by Diana Gabaldon. It’s the story of a young nurse during WWll and her time travel. While spending the holiday in Scotland and forgetting the miseries of war at 1945, Claire Fraser and her husband discover a historical place. By touching a stone Claire is transferred to the year 1743, and now she’s in the middle of a fight between redcoats and the Highlanders.Besides its romantic and fantasy genre , this series has a historical scheme of old Scotland and its rebellious citizens.Watching this series is recommended to not just the history lovers but also the people who enjoy fictional movies.
