Hills Like White Elephants

This short story is written in Objective POV; this is obvious in the first paragraph. The first paragraph is a description of the setting; actually the moments which can be seen. As readers, we’re facing the facts, not the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of the characters- in other words, we do not have access to these three elements.
The most visible thing is the characters’ actions, but the dialogues can be referred to as focalizations, because our characters are the witnesses. Their emotions and reflections are presented to sum extent, so we can judge the characters’ background based on these factors. The male characters is persistently trying to convince the girl to have an operation; however the operation’s name is not explicitly stated. We don’t’ even know the characters’ name. We must therefore understand that our focalizers are more aware than our voice, so the focalizations are external.
