The Gooseberries: theme

The theme in this short story is greed and fulfillment. The greed that Nikolay has for achieving his dream and for fulfilling it. The word " Gooseberry " is the leitwortstil. Gooseberries may symbolize Nikolay 's sweet ambition, but actually the gooseberries have a sour taste. The other theme is happiness. Achieving our goals does really lead to our happiness? Or life means much more than that? Maybe chasing our personal objectives and reaching them is selfishness, as some people are suffering from poverty.
